Saw this yesterday, kind of stupid actually, even if you go in with low expectations like i did. It’s the kind where you walk out thinking it’s alright, then your opinion decays over time. (Just remembered that it’s a kids movie, can’t judge it the same as an adult movie)
-Jacky Chan vs Jet Li fight is really good i think, but waaaay too short. I ended up feeling i’d have gotten more out of re-watching drunken fist 2. And Jet Li can’t quite act, no surprises there. Same for everyone else except white guy, who is very good at looking sorry and confused, and Jacky Chan who pulls the whole movie together. I also don’t understand why ALL Chinese guys have a crush on 刘亦非. I think she is cute but kind of ordinary looking.
-Too much ‘plot’…i’m sure <5% of the audience went for the plot, so why even bother? I don’t mean that the movie makes a lot of sense or is unpredictable, just that I felt like it didn’t have to be, so in terms of screen time, ‘plot’ moments are too long/many.
-Some parts are really funny, and some are unintentionally really funny…I remember one very serious part where I couldn’t stop laughing…
Yeah so pretty entertaining overall, as long as you don’t expect too much. At least people in my theater were clapping at the end…
Jet Li Monkey King is the best part
wow i’m impressed by the new “Possibly related posts: (automatically generated)” feature…
I think 刘亦非 is really pretty. ok name one Chinese/Taiwanese actress who is prettier (minus Hsu Chi, Wong Faye, Brigitte Lin, Maggie Cheung, Gong Li…)
well, for starters, the other girl in this movie. I don’t mean in the movie where she looks like a caricature but more naturally like in this photoshoot (scroll down to the pix with all 4 of them):

i guess 刘亦非is kind of innocent looking, but that’s about it…
maybe i should just ask simon…
her?
no…I don’t think she’s prettier…actually I don’t think she’s that pretty at all. while it is entirely possible that she looks better in this particular movie than 刘亦非 because it is entirely possible that 刘亦非 doesn’t look good in this movie…but since you said not in this movie…
And it is possible that 刘亦非 only looks really pretty as 王語焉, because I think she doesn’t look nearly as nice in modern dress/photoshoots, which kinda remind me of BOA when she was a bit younger, who was really cute as a child/young pop star but I don’t think is that pretty now that she’s older…
yeah 刘亦非 is kind of chubby…maybe they did some special fx/digitizing for 王語焉 because she looks *translucent* there and the drama as a whole is pretty stylized so i wouldn’t be surprised. eg. just look at this shot: http://nhungvisao.net/home/fic/346.htm
contrast with normal photo: http://nhungvisao.net/home/fic/335.htm
and you’re right, 李冰冰pretty much looks uniformly plain except in that flattering photoshoot above. well 刘亦非 still looks chubby there so i rest my case.
she looks nice, *translucent* or not (it might be lighting effect? I guess that’s about the same thing as photoshop, in any case it’s a manipulation of the image as it is presented). And I like girls who are slightly “chubby,” which probably explains why I don’t like nearly all HK female celebrities…their faces are too thin -> austere…*and* they’re too skinny. Most korean celebrities (female) have “chubby” faces too.
In the drama she looks pretty normal I think (ie. not “translucent”), from the small amount of which which I watch while I was hanging around the house in LA while it was on TV all the time. I watched enough of it to know I don’t want to watch it, as usual.
