I’ve never seen song lyrics being translated into English from Chinese done well, which is why I usually don’t try….But anyway this is how the lyrics feel like to me. The austerity and easily ambiguous subjects/objects is one of the features of the Chinese language ; )
the problem with mayday songs is that I like too many of them…almost equally much. This one is a classic though. A lot of their older MVs are like this, maybe I need to check if they’re all directed by the same director. They’re kinda random, but kinda simple and unpretentious (like all their songs), and also very…native. I don’t know how there seems to be an inexhaustive supply of girls with slightly strange dispositions to be in their mvs (but then jay chou mvs always seem to have an inexhaustive supply of annoying girls too). I don’t know if it’s really intentional, but a lot of these mvs have greenish tints in many scenes. It’s kinda like this unsaturated slightly-bluish-green tint that is very common in Taiwan. It’s related to the atmosphere and the color of the foliage I think. It’s kinda like how California kinda has a orangish-dustish tint in many things, it’s the sun and the desert…
